    • (St. Croix Courier, Jan 16, 1930)
John Bresnahan died at his home in Milltown early Friday morning after being in failing health for an extended period. He was some years ago employed as shipping clerk in the cotton mill but ill health made it necessary for him to resign. At his death, he was a member of the School board and had been for several years and during the past two years he was assessor for Ward II and in all positions, he won for himself the confidence of those he had recommended his appointment.
Born in Milltown in August, 1859, he died in his native town on January 10, 1930. He was gifted with a wonderful memory of dates and places and could readily recall many historical events in the past 60 years.
He was Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, and charter member of St. Croix Council which was organized February 16, 1896. He was also identified with the old St. Patrick Temperence Society back in the 1870s when the "Catholic Total Abstinence Union of N.B." flourished in this province and had attended conventions in Saint John, Woodstock and Fredericton.
he was director of musical and dramatic entertainment back in the 80s. He gave his time to every good cause which had for its object the possible benefit of sick and death benefits for widows and orphans of those sho had been associated with societies in which he belonged. To his credit, it must be stated his interest knew no bounds and there are those in town who can vouch for the fact he made frequent visits to the homes of those associated with other societies who were ill and former associates of the cotton mill.
Survived by his wife, five sons, William of hte shipping room at the cotton mill; Edmond and Robert of Gillman, Vt.; Leo vacationing in the States; Dan, main office of the cotton mill; one daughter, Mary Bresnahan, RN, of New York, All were present for the funeral. The flag was half-staff on council rooms and school buildings. Many town officials were present at the service.
Interment was in the family lot in the Catholic cemetery in Milltown.
