The image of the census page is very light, illegible portions identified by "X" or note.

The index to the 1881 census at Milltown, Charlotte, New Brunswick lists the family of Andrew McGendnet. The family members and ages are those of "my" Andrew McGoldrick so I can only assume that the handwriting or image must be bad. The index lists the following: Andrew, 53, b. IRELAND, labourer, Roman Catholic; Ellen, 40, b. IRELAND, Roman Catholic; children all b. New Brunswick, all Roman Catholic: James, 22; Andrew, 19; George, 17; Margret, 14; May, 9.

The informant for Alex's death certificate is Jesse Rothschild, Detroit. It states Alex was first married at age 37 and had 2 children, of whom 2 are living. The birth date of 1846 matches with the Alex's age at death. The month and year of birth given in the 1900 census must be wrong.

The information available on Thomas and Martha in Jefferson County is both meager and inconsistent. Data from Martha'a gravestone note that she died in 1858, age 65, which places her birth date about 1793. However, that birth date is not consistent with the birth date of son, Ezekiel, on 2/1/1805.
There was a Thomas Cole listed in the Census Records for Jefferson County, Salem Township as age 70 in 1850, and there was no Martha listed. The Thomas listed in the 1850 Census was undoubtedly the sonof Ezekiel and Sarah. Data from Thomas' tombstone note that he died in 1857, age 83, which would place his date of birth about 1774. Thomas and Martha were buried in the Richmond Quaker Cemetery, Salem Township, Jefferson County, Ohio.

The Kroll genealogy lists the marriage of John and Caroline as 1915. The 1920 census at 510 Franklin St., Stevens Point, WI lists John and Caroline with 5 children: Erwin, son, age 10; xxxxxd., son age 9 (illegible); Richard, 5; Norbert, 2 11/12; and Loretta, 4/12. The 1930 census states that John was first married at age 25 or between 1909 and 1911 depending on the birth year used. It states that Caroline was first married at age 31 or between 1912 and 1915 depending on the birth year used. I find in the 1910 census at 408 Franklin St., Stevens Point, WI a John S. and Josephine Worzalla with a son, Erwin aged x/12 (illegible). John is listed as a salesman for a dry good store. The
Stevens Point Journal
lists the wedding announcement of John S. Worzalla and Josephine Dayo. John is listed as being from Winona (MN). Listed as attendants are Vincent and Mary Worzalla, brother and sister of the groom and Frances Dayo, sister of the bride. They are to make their home at 408 Franklin St., Stevens Point. Josephine is the daughter of Stanislaus Dayo of Stevens Point. An article in the
Stevens Point Journal
lists a real estate transaction between John and Josephine Worzalla occuring in 1912. An obituary is available for purchase, printed late March 1914 for a Mrs. John (Josephine) Worzalla from the Portage County GenWeb site. The obituary of Richard Worsalla states his birthdate as Mar. 7, 1914. An obituary for Stanislaus Dayo in 1928 does not list a daughter Josephine as surviving him.
My guess is that John Worzalla was married twice, first to Josephine Dayo and second to Caroline Kroll and that he had three sons by Josephine.

The Kroll genealogy states that Carolines birth date is Jun 16 1882. The 1900 census lists June of 1881. Later census records/ages place her birth year as 1884. Her tombstone records the year as 1882.

The letter from Ethel states: "After the death of Gervase Hendrick, Joe Forester, came to America with his half-brother James Hendrick, and the other members of the family came later in 1863 or 1864. After spending a few weeks with his half-brother, Joe Forester left for other parts and was not heard from thereafter."

The lineage begins to come forth from the mist of time with an intelligent farmer, John Pearson of Ullock, parish of Dean who by 1641 was a church warden and overseer of St. Oswald's. This old gentleman made his will in January 1649, requesting that his body be buried in the church yard of Dean Parish. Evidently he had paid for the education of a grandson, Christopher Pearson, who was to pay 20 shillings to the parish schools for his part in the estate that he was to receive. He was also to inherit his grandfather's 'husbandry gear'. John Pearson was dead in 1650 when his will was executed, with its numerous and careful bequests. There is a likelihood that John Pearson was one of the children of Jane Pearson, Widow, who died in Dean Parish in 1580, asking that Thomas Pearson shall have the occupation of my farm hold with all my goods moveable and that he brought up the said children honestly with meals and cloth until they come to perfect years of age and that he make my son 'John Pearson' aforesaid tenant of said farmhold by the license of the Lord or his Office.' Her other children were Thomas and Elizabeth. This John could have been a brother to Christopher Pearson, weaver of Ullock, who died in 1613. In his will the latter made bequests to his brother, Thomas and John Pearson. He left also 40 shillings 'upon the repairing of Deane Church and Deane Schoolhouse'.

The locality of Tuntange (French suffix for village is -ange, while German is -ingen) is also recorded Tuntingen and Tintingen. Their oldest daughter was married to a Johann Metz on February 11, 1846. They preceded the rest of the family over to the US. Bill does not know if they were scouting things out, but probably so. The family left Luxembourg in 1847. They travelled to the French port of Le Harve and boarded the S.S. Monterey. They arrived in New York City on August 1, 1847. Bill writes: Bernard was a carpenter by trade, which is revealing. Aside from Luxembourg being a poor country at the time, the family land over the generations had been divided up into smaller and smaller plots. Assuming that Bernard was not the first born male, he may have had no land, which would have put him a notch down on the economic ladder. Makes you wonder how he managed to feed that crowd. He and his wife probably moved to provide opportunity for their children. I see that Bernard only lived a few years after arriving here. He obviously had some money, though, or they could not have made the trip. Amazing that no one died on the journey. I do not recall the name of the church in Tuntange. It is a very small village with no commercial area. All farming from what I could see on a 2 hour visit. Patton's 3rd Army steamrollered through there on the way north to stop the last German offensive in the Battle of the Bulge. I visited the American cemetery in Hamm where Patton is buried. He is where he would want to be - at the head of his troops. The Weidert family is mentioned in the note for George Markert 2nd, in connection with the location of the school in Rasselas, PA. The settlers built Holy Cross Catholic Church in Rasselas, but this project was undertaken shortly after the death of Bernard Weidert in 1855. Dennis Brown 1/21/02

The marital status of Thomas is unclear. A document reported to be in the Maryland Historical Society states Thomas married (1) Mary Richardson, who died 3/9/1718 and (2) Sarah ?. It is not known whether there is any proof of a first marriage for Thomas. The book 'Baltimore County Families, 1659 - 1759.' does not list two marriages; however it does list a Thomas Cole (no known relation to John Cole) who married Mary ? and had Richardson's as in-laws. This Thomas , however, died by 1745. IF there is a first marriage for Thomas, is is possible that his first two children, Christopher and Thomas, were children of the first marriage. This is pure speculation, and there is nothing in public records to support it. In 1725, Thomas surveyed 100 acres of 'Christopher's Lot; between 1/9/1718 and 3/6/1733/4, he obtained portions of 'Levy'sTribe', addition to 'Bevy's Tribe', and 'Green's Chance'; in1750, he owned 100 acres of 'Christophers Lot' and 50 acres of 'Thomas' Lot'; in March 1768, he sold these two tracts to his son, Thomas, Jr.; in 1781, he conveyed to his son Christopher, tracts of 'Christophers Lot' and the lease of 'Mountain.' Thomas was mentioned in the will of John Broad, who died about 1709. John Broad was the second husband of Barbara (Stone) Garrett, Thomas' maternal grandmother.

The Nelson chart names 6 daughters of John and Catherine: Pauline (m. Fischer); Sophia (Gigrich); Mary (Veight); Caroline (Kopp); Barbara (Annen) and Elizabeth (Annen).
The 1870 census lists 5 daughters: Anna, 9; Sophie, 8; Caroline, 6; Barbara, 4; and Elizabeth, 1. The 1880 census lists 2 daughters remaining at home: Barbara, 14 and Elizabeth, 10. By 1900, John is dead and Catherine is living with her daughter, Sophia. In 1900 the census states that Catherine had 6 children and 6 of them are living.
So... from the charts I am missing Mary and Pauline in the census. From the census I have an extra Anna. In 1910, Mary Veigt is listed as 49 years old which sort of matches up with Anna on the census. In 1920 Mary is listed with the middle initial A. That leaves Pauline. I have been unable to find any trace of a John or Pauline Fischer/Fisher or any children listed on the chart in Minnesota.
For recording purposes, since I believe the chart to be correct, I am "keeping" Pauline as a child and will continue to look for little Fischers. I am "incorporating" Anna and Mary unless I find out otherwise.

The original township of Swansea was settled in 1667/8. At that time it ran westerly from Naragansett Bay to the Taunton River on the east. The Wannamoisett area was located along the Naragansett Bay shoreline on the easterly side of Bullock's Cove. This was the original settlement of Swansea, later becoming part of Seekonk and when the state line was moved in 1862, it became part of East Providence, RI.

The settlement of Litchfield was commenced by Captain Jacob Griswold, from Windsor, Ezekiel Buck, from Wethersfield and John Peck, from Hartford, all of whom removed their families into the township during the summer of 1720....The first meeting of the Inhabitants for the choice of Town Officers was held Dec. 12, 1721. The only person "admitted an inhabitant" at this meeting, was Mr. Joseph Kilbourn, from Wethersfield, who had recently purchased one-thirtieth part of the township.

The Spicer family file states that while enroute from Nebraska to Minnesota Nathan contracted diptheria and died on April 16, 1895 near the city of Winnebago and that he was buried there, under a tree. The 1895 census of this family, taken June 20 in Mazeppa, Faribault Co., and to include those family members as of June 1 includes Nathan, age 3. William indicates he has been in the state and district 11 months. Nathan does not appear in subsequent census so I don't doubt he died young and probably of diptheria but I do question the date and surrounding story.
