A pretty wedding occurred Saturday morning at 9 o'clock when Miss Margaret Maher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Gervus Maher, became the bride of William James McGoldrick, son of Mr. James McGoldrick, of Waltham, Mass. Mgr. Dempsey performed the ceremony, which was followed by a wedding breakfast at the Hotel Statler for the immediate families. The bride wore an attractive gown of blue tricotine embroidered in gold and Nile green, with a green hat and a corsage boquet of orchids and valley lilies. Mr. and Mrs. McGoldrick left for a western trip. The bride's grandmother, Mrs. John Maher, of Saginaw, was present at the wedding.

Miss Margaret Maher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Gervis Maher and Mr. William James McGoldrick, son of Mr. and Mrs. James McGoldrick, were married Saturday at 9 o'clock by Monsignor M. Dempsey. The ceremony was a quiet one, witnessed by the members of the immediate families only. The bride was most attractive in a frock of midnight blue tricolette, embroidered in nile green, with a Batavia cloth hat of nile green. Miss Maher and Mr. McGoldrick were unattended. They went on a wedding trip.

An interesting wedding was that of Miss Margaret Maher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Gurvus Maher, and William J. McGolderick, which was solemnized at 9 o'clock, Saturday morning in SS. Peter and Paul's cathedral church. Mgr. M. Dempsey officiating. It was a quiet simple ceremony, only the immediate families being present. The bride was very charming in her traveling gown of midnight blue tricotine trimmed in green and embroidered in gold and black. She wore a small hat of green batavia cloth and a corsage of orchids and sweetheart roses. Miss Maher and Mr. McGoldrick were unattended. A breakfast in the Hotel Statler for just the families, followed the church ceremony, after which the bridal couple left on a western trip. They will be at home to their friends upon their return at 188 Tennyson ave. The only out-of-town guest at the wedding was Mrs. John Maher, of Saginaw, the bride's grandmother.

This family had a habit of reporting their birthplace as either Maine or Canada. Calais, Maine and Milltown, New Brunswick are pretty much conjoined at the US/Canada border and families could drifted back and forth over the border. I have recorded that the birthplace of James' mother as Milltown, not Scotland but.....her name was McDonald.

    Saginaw Men In Demand
Two Well Known Young Busness (sic) Men Have Been Captured for Outside Concerns
Saginaw men are in demand in the outside business world, as well as a home and sometimes they feel compelled to yield to the alluring offers made them. This has happened to W. E. English and James G. Maher, two well known employes of the Barie Dry Goods company, who will sever relations with that concern to enter upon careers elsewhere about the beginning of the new year.
Mr. English, who has been in charge of a department in the Saginaw house, will go to the Taylor Carpet company, Indianapolis, and will be in charge of drapery, furnishing and contract decorating department of that firm, which is considered a splendid opportunity. Mr. Mahar (sic), who has been for some years in the whole sale department of the Saginaw firm, and also secretary to William Barie, junior, will take up a similar line of work in the wholesale Krolich house at Detroit. Both men regret for personal reasons that they are leaving Saginaw, but they could not afford to decline the opportunities offered them for advancement financially and otherwise.

The surname McGoldrick is borne by descendants of the Mag Ualghairg sept, a branch of the O'Rourkes, who were rulers of Breffny. This sept was located on the Leitrim-Fermanagh borders. The descendants of the sept were scattered so that the surname McGoldrick now is found mainly in Co, Tyrone and Co. Sligo as well as Co. Fermanagh. McGolrick, McGoulrick and McGorlick are variant spellings on record while the English surname Goulding has been reported by the Registrar of Births as used interchangeably with McGolrick in Downpatrick Union, Co. Down.
