Even J. Estrem
Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon, May 16, for Even J. Estrem, who died Tuesday morning, May 12, at his home in Warsaw township of heart trouble after an illness of five months. A short service was held at the home, followed by services in Vang churgh, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Adolph Egge. Mr. Egge spoke both in English and in Norwegian at the church. Mrs. Adolph Egge sang at the services in the church. A large number of relatives and friends were in attendance.
Evan J. Estrem was born in Warsaw township July 30, 1870, and his parents were the late John and Sigrid Estrem. As a young child he was baptized in Vang church and in June, 1885, he was confirmed in the same church by the late Rev. J. N. Kildahl. On June 27, 1895, he was united in marriage to Miss Hansine Hove. Shortly after their marriage he purchased the farm home of O. I. Flaten, which since has been their home.
Besides his wife, he is survived by nine children: Joseph of Stanton township, Helmer of Warsaw township, Sever of Northfield, Mrs. Henry Schuette of Farmington, Edwin at hame, Mrs. Edgar Schuette of Northfield, Mrs. Roman Lamberty of Northfield township, Mrs. Edward Mechura, St. Paul, and Mrs. Richard Rice, Northfield, and also twenty grandchildren. He leaves two sisters, Mrs. J. James McCurdy, St. Paul and Mrs. Marit Kolstad of Wangs.
The internment was made in the Vang cemetery. The pallbearers were six of his friends and neighbors. Peter Fagen, Lars Midje, Carl Remme, John Pagel, H. H. Svien and J. E. Trench.

John Johnson Estrem was born November 15, 1836 (Norway birth register) (death certificate has November 28, 1836) in Vang, Valdres, Oppland County, Norway. He was the illegimate child of Ingeborg Evensdatr Hæn and John Johnson Nefstad.

His name appears in several ways according to various documents:
Norway marriage record: John Johnson Østerim, age 21, married Sigrid Nilsdatr. Veblensejet, age 24, on November 22, 1857.

John Johnsen Næbstad, age 22, checked out of the church on March 30, 1858. Also his wife, Sigri Nilsdtr, his mother, Ingeborg Evensdtr Heen and possibly a brother-in-law.

The Vang bygdebok gives Sigrid's husband's name as "Jon Jonsson Austreim (Heen)."

Sigrid's name is recorded with different farm names: Volviseiga/Veflen/Leite/Berge. She was born December 29, 1833 and died June 29, 1902.

John and Sigrid had 10 children - I believe a few died young, and some used "Johnson" as a surname.

John Estrum
John Estrum, aged 80 years, died at his home in Warsaw on Friday, December, 30. Deceased was born in Valders, Norway, in 1836. In 1857 he was united in marriage to Sigrid Leite. A year later the couple came to America, settling in Wisconsin. After remaining there for a time they removed to Warsaw, where they have since made their home. Ten children blessed the union, six of whom survive and are as follows: Mrs. Eberhart of Thief River Falls; Mrs. McCurdy of Minneapolis, Nels, Gilbert, and Evan, and Mrs. George Kolstad all of the town of Warsaw. Funeral services were held Tuesday. Rev. Hauge officiating, interment being made in Vangs cemetery.
