    Obituary:
FEWTRELL, Richard A. Richard Alexander Fewtrell, 66, of Lyme, CT collapsed at his home on April 21, 2010. He was in weak condition after a recent lung surgery. Richard was born as Richard Alexander Booth on August 14, 1943 in Cambridge, England. He was adopted at 6 months by Alfred George and Kay Fewtrell. He spent his childhood in Rochester, Kent and the Isle of Wight. He is predeceased by one older brother, Robert. He was married to Mary Ann Creamer in New York City in 1979. Richard attended the London School of Music and the Royal Military School of Music at Knell Hall. He was a member of the Colchester Orchestra and the Milford Chamber Ensemble. Richard was also an expert in British folk music. Richard's two greatest passions were music and the sea. He was an expert in tall ships as well as wooden boat restoration. He served for three years as first mate aboard the Golden Cachelot in the Galapogos Islands. He managed the restoration of the tall ship Wavertree at the South Street Seaport in New York. He also surveyed the tall ship Elissa before its purchase by the Galveston Historical Society in 1977. He moved to Connecticut in 1984 and has run his own boat restoration business ever since. Richard excelled at physically demanding skills despite suffering from Ankylosing Spondylitis for most of his adult life. This disease rendered his spine rigid and compromised his lungs in his later years. According to his wishes, Richard's ashes will be scattered at sea. A secular memorial service will be held on Sunday May 16. Donations may be made to the Spondylitis Association of America.

    Alternate Name:
I have 5 paintings done by Mary, 4 oils and 1 appears to be chalk or pencil. One hung in our family home for most of my life and I acquired the others after her death.

Researchers on ancestry.com consistently give the parents of Edna Pearl King as James Robert King and Leona Welden but the records are full of inconsistencies. One researcher has Leona married 3 times, to Robert King, Hezekiah McGinnis and then Charles Yoemans. This is impossible as the King and McGinnis marriages are simultaneous. Further Hezekiah and Leona McGinnis are alive and well in Kentucky during the 1920 census. Hezekiah and Leona are listed as having been married 7 years in the 1900 census (this while the King marriage is still producing children.) Leona is enumerated in the 1910 census in Indianapolis, IN along with her daughters Mary and Bernice King. She is listed as Divorced (and Leona and Hezekia McGinnis are still in Kentucky at this time). I believe these were all put together using ancestry's dancing leaves that urge one to connect records and people with no real research or thought.

In fact Leona was married 4 times but never to Hezekiah McGinnis.

    Name:
Edna was generally known as Mary Creamer, this is how she signed her paintings. She gave lessons and conducted showings as Mary Creamer.

I have 5 paintings done by Mary, 4 oils and 1 appears to be chalk or pencil. One hung in our family home for most of my life and I acquired the others after her death.

    Census:
1910 census shows Edna P. King, 17, b. KY, parents b. KY/KY, seamstress, dressmaker. She is enumerated as a lodger in the home of Elijah C. and Georgina Burgess.
