Census

1820 census at Posey Township, Switzerland, IN shows: Jesse V. Daily: Free White Males: 2, under 10 years; 1, 16 to under 26; Free White Females: 1, sixteen and under 26; 1 person engaged in agriculture.
Census

1850 census at York Township, Switzerland, IN shows: Jesse Daily, 58, farmer, b. VA; Margaret, 53, b. KY; children: Peter, 22; Robert, 19; Randolph L., 17; Virginia, 13. Also in the household is Sarah J. Richard, 15, birthplace illegible. The census index lists this family under the surname, "De Daily," and lists Margaret as "Maydell." The index also lists all the children as having been born in Iowa. From looking at the image it certainly does look like "Ia," however most everyone on the page has the same birthplace. I suspect that the indexer made an error as I find it hard to believe that most folks living in Switzerland Co., Indiana were born in Iowa.
